What does it consist of?

From the Olivar y Aceite Interpretation Center, the “OyA” Olive Oil Tasting Club is launched. This strategic initiative is a pioneer in the world of extra virgin olive oil in the province of Jaén and Andalusia, and represents one more step in the line of work that the Center has set out in the work of disseminating and spreading knowledge of the culture of extra virgin olive oil.

The Tasting Club is a meeting point for amateurs and professionals to deepen their knowledge of extra virgin olive oil and enjoy the sensory experience. It is a way to enjoy an activity together with people who share the same interest, EVOO. A community of lovers of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Who is it for?

The Tasting Club is aimed at anyone with minimal knowledge of oil tasting who is interested in the sensory world of EVOO: Professionals from the olive oil sector and commerce, hospitality professionals, students or university graduates, amateurs/ as to the world of extra virgin olive oil and the general public.

Goals

  • Promote culture and learning in the tasting of extra virgin olive oil.

  • Assess the importance of sensory analysis in EVOO.

  • Share opinions and experiences between people with knowledge in the matter, to enhance the training and improvement of tasters.

  • Contribute to the development and training to improve olfactory-taste skills.

  • Exchange of knowledge and experiences of new productions, situations, different national and international EVOOs.

  • Create new expectations, as well as being a pioneering and dynamic activity in Jaén.

  • Value premium EVOOs, appreciate their excellence, complexity, versatility, importance of their use and their high gastronomic value.

  • Explore and enjoy the different sensory profiles of Premium EVOOs from different areas of Spain and other countries.

  • Meeting point between producers from different areas.

  • Contribute to the improvement of sensory skills, to describe the plurality of sensory nuances that the different Spanish and foreign oils present.

  • Contribute to the increase in the value of Premium EVOO in restaurants.

Functioning

1.      The organization falls on the Olivar y Aceite Association, together with our partner IADA Ingenieros.

2.      Several tasting sessions will be held based on an annual calendar.

3.      In said established tasting session there will be a speaker who may be: producer, expert, researcher, blogger, chef, athlete, etc., who will provide knowledge of the olive world.

4.      Each tasting session will be monographic (eg EVOOs from the DO of Navarra, monovarietal EVOOs from different producing areas, unusual defects, …) and will be directed by the speaker or the organization.

5.      For registration in the tasting club, initially 10-15 places will be offered.

6.      Payment in advance through bank transfer or our online store.

7.      Each tasting session will end with a sensory analysis of other products led by an expert in the field.

8. In the virtual option, if available, you will receive a kit with oil samples, tasting sheets, tasting tablecloth, biodegradable tasting cups, caps and development instructions.
